I haven't done one of these in a while. There is a page with a weekly rolling chart, but for the record I just want to start resuming (again) the weekly chart posting. A lot of the older charts that I have posted are archived at the M4B Personal Chart site under my username macprohawaii. I have been posting personal charts off and on for quite a lot of years, first on paper and then later online. The old paper charts were long ago tossed, before the internet became a thing.

Since my last report, the #1 song has changed several times in the past few months. The current #1 song is from the Top Gun Maverick soundtrack. It has been #1 on this chart for three weeks in a row. That song s "Hold My Hand" from Lady Gaga.

The video for the song appears at the top of this posting.

The only debut song to the chart is "No One Dies From Love" by Tove Lo at #19. The video for that is below.

CHART NOTES

It's been a long climb up for Adele's "Easy on Me". The song made its chart debut six weeks ago on October 20. It slowly climbed up, making it into the top 5, stopping at #2 last week, and now reaches #1. At number 2 we find Lisa of Blackpink fame, moving up 2 from last week's #4 with her hit "Money."

Ed Sheeran's "Overpass Graffiti" jumps from #7 to #3 this week, while its predecessor "Shivers" moves down from #3 to #6. At #4 is last week's #1 hit "America" by Tom MacDonald with Aaron Lewis breaking in at #5 with his patriotic song "Am I The Only One."

We have two debut songs again this week. At #19 is "Beggin'", an alternative rock track by a band called Maneskin. Number 20's debut record comes from another K-Pop girl group, TWICE. "The Feels" is the single at #20.

CHART NOTES

Two songs make their debuts. "Steal My Love" by country duo Dan + Shay debut at #19. It is a pop song with a reggae beat. It's #4 on my weekly Country 5 +5 chart (see below).

At #20 we find Marina who was previously known as Marina & the Diamonds. She debuts with her hit "Venus Fly Trap."

Not too much movement in this week's chart. The Linda Lindas hold on to #1 for the 3rd week with their smash hit, "Oh!" (video appears at the top of this post)

"Wrecked" by Imagine Dragons is at #2 for a third week in a row. Will it go to #1? Meanwhile "Skate" by Silk Sonic inches up another point from #4 last week to #3. Here is Imagine Dragons:

CHART NOTES

The Linda Lindas make it to the #1 position in three weeks, debuting two weeks ago at #15, bolting to #5 last week and now jumping from that position to #1 with what should be their big debut hit, "OH!" The band consists of four young ladies ages 10 to 16. They can all do vocals, and play a variety of instruments, though for most songs they have settled on a line-up of two guitarists, one on bass and a drummer. Check out "OH" at the top of this post... The Killers place the new single "Quiet Town" on the top 20 for the first time this week at #19. It's from their newest album Pressure Machine.

The second of our two debut singles is a re-worked oldie from The Foo Fighters going under their "disco name" "Dee Gees." As the Dee Gees, the band released 5 songs written by the Bee Gees on their latest release Hail Satin. The first of the Bee Gee covers to make this chart is "Shadow Dancing" which was a #1 hit in 1978 for Bee Gee brother Andy Gibb.

CHART NOTES

Ed Sheeran holds on to #1 for a third week with "Bad Habits."

We have three songs this week with a Hawaii connection. Two of them belong to Bruno Mars and his group Silk Sonic. At #9 we still have holder on "Leave the Door Open" with a new one debuting at #16, "Skate." Bruno Mars grew up in Hawaii and cut his earliest musical chops being a 4-year old Elvis Presley impersonator for his father's night club show.

The third record with a Hawaii connection is "Somewhere Over the Rainbow / What a Wonderful World", a medley made famous over time in its original from by the late singer Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole. For its revival it has been remixed by Robin Schulz and Alle Farben with the "Iz" vocals and ukulele still being present in this sped up remix. The record debuts at #20.

Speaking of remixes, we got a new old one from Paul McCartney. "Find My Way" is  once again on the chart this year with a new remix featuring the vocals of Beck. The track is from the McCartney III Imagined, a remix album that made it to #1 on the Billboard albums chart. The record debuts at #19.

Last but not least, we find The Linda Lindas, a rock group of young school aged girls belting out some very convincing punk rock. Their latest single "OH!" makes its debut at #15 on the Current Top 20. This will go higher than their first single, "Racist, Sexist Boy" which peaked at #14 a few weeks ago.

CHART NOTES

Four songs make their debut this week. They include the latest by OneRepublic, "Run" and Olivia Rodrigo's third single, "Good 4 U." "Run" is the high debut of the week starting at #16 and "Good 4 U" lists at #18. Bringing up positions #19 and #20 are two indie songs, both from YouTube.

Olivia Rodrigo has the #1 Billboard Hot 100 song "Good 4 U" @ #18 here.



The first at #19 is by IMY2, who have made a name for themselves by covering a whole variety of cover songs on the video streaming service for the past few years. They've also released about a dozen original songs. "Kiss" is IMY2's second single to chart on Mel's Current Top 20, the first being "Breakfast in Bed" which peaked at #8 earlier this year. "Kiss" has a good pop/reggae vibe to it and could become IMY2's breakout success.

The last of the debut songs at #20 is by a kid's rock band who have tackled a sensitive topic with their original composition. "Racist, Sexist Boy" is a raw punk rock song filmed at a library by the kid group The Linda Lindas. All I can say about this one is that it's a scorcher! Wow!

Elsewhere on the chart, the top 4 records stay the same as they were last week with The Weeknd sticking at #1 for a 4th week with "Save Your Tears" (remix version with Ariana Grande), compiling a 6 week run at #1 if you count the original version of the song that topped this chart earlier in the year.

It looks like Rina Sawayama's "Chosen Family", a duet with Elton John, is stalled at #2. Taylor Swift's "Mr. Perfectly Fine" is mired at #3 for another week, while Silk Sonic holds on to #4 again with their former #1 song "Leave the Door Open."

Katy Perry has the biggest mover with "Electricity" as that song leaps into the Top 10 at #10 from last week's #17 debut.
