CHART NOTES:

A whole lot of fun at #1... yes, Fun stays at the top position for a 2nd week with "Some Nights". Owl City moves up to #2 from #3 of last week with their track "Good Time" which also features Carly Rae Jepsen, who had an earlier #1 record this summer with "Call Me Maybe". That song seems to be on a wane now as it drops from #11 to #15.

Leaping into the top 10 at #10 this week we find Maroon 5 and their latest single "One More Night". The song bolts from its debut position of #18 last week. Looks like another big hit for the hot group.

Debuts this week include "Home" by Phillip Phillips at #19 and "That Girl" by The Noisettes at #20.

CHART NOTES:

It's Fun at number one! Yes, Fun that new alternative group that hit the chart earlier this year with "We Are Young" (peaking at #3 in April) makes it to #1 with their latest single "Some Nights". It's a great song and the title track of their latest album which also contains the former top 5 hit. We'll see how long this record holds the top spot.

Entering the top 5 this week we find Owl City with their track "Good Time" moving up from #6 to #3. The single features the additional vocals of Carly Rae Jepsen, the current teen idol fave who also topped the chart with her own hit "Call Me Maybe" earlier this summer. "Good Time" is a good song that will probably move up even higher. Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" is on its way down to #11 from #9 this week.

The fastest rising single on the chart this week belongs to country music artist Jason Aldean. His track "Take a Little Ride" races up 8 notches from its debut position of #18 last week to break into the top ten this week at #10. Wow! The song is a big hit on the country music charts and it looks like it will be a big crossover record here.

Two songs make their chart debut. At #18 we find the return of Maroon 5 and their latest track "One More Night" which comes off their latest album Overxposed. It's a great reggae sounding follow-up to their #1 hit single "Payphone" from a few weeks back. At #20 we find the return of Miss Li and her single "My Heart Goes Boom". Miss Li was on the chart in 2009 with two singles, "Bourgeois Shangri-La" and "I Heard of a Girl", both hitting the top 10.

CHART NOTES:

Matchbox Twenty holds at #1 for a 3rd week in a row with their big hit "She's So Mean". The top 4 positions remain unchanged on this week's chart with Fun's "Some Nights" holding at #2, Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" holding at #3 and Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know" holding at #4. Positions 2, 3 and 4 all consist of former #1 songs.

The only new entry into the top 5 is Alabama Shakes' "Hold On" moving up from #7 to #5.

At number 6 we find Owl City with Carly Rae Jepsen bolting from #11 of last week to #6 with "Good Time". Looks like a solid top 5 entry for next week. This is a good song with a fun video. Anything with Carly Rae is fun. Speaking of which, she is still hanging in on the chart with her former #1 record "Call Me Maybe", moving down 4 from #5 to #9 this week.

The Killers move into the top 10 this week with their track "Runaways" at #10 up 2 from last week's #12.

Three songs make their chart debuts: Jason Aldean's country rocker "Take a Little Ride" comes in at #18;Marina & the Diamonds "Primadonna" at #19 and TobyMac's "Me Without You" at #20. Another great week for contemporary hit music. Check out the videos.

CHART NOTES

Matchbox Twenty continues at #1 for a second week with their latest hit "She So Mean". Following them is Funwho have moved up from #6 to #2 with their latest single "Some Nights".

Only one new song makes a debut in the top 10... and that is Anuhea's "Higher Than The Clouds" which climbs 4 points from #14 to #10. It is a tastefully done pop song with a reggae backbeat. The track is taken from Anuhea's latest album For Love. Anuhea charted on the Weekly Top 20 in 2010 with "Come Over Love" which peaked at #12 and in 2009 with "I Just Want You Around" in 2009. That song peaked at #9. It is likely that "Higher Than The Clouds" will chart higher than #9.

Two songs make their debut on the top 20 this week. Both of them so far are not on mainstream radio. The first is by a guy named Bahamas who debuts at #20 with "Caught Me Thinkin'". The track has a tropical flair to it and sounds a bit like an electrified Jack Johnson... and no wonder. The track is on Johnson's Brushire Records label.
The second of the two debut songs is "Leave the Lights On" the latest by singer Meiko at #19. She landed a #1 hit on on the Weekly Top 20 in 2009 with the track "Boys With Girlfriends".

Droppers: Songs on the way out this week include Shannon Hurley's "I Feel Love" at #18, Maroon 5's "Payphone" (a former #1) at #17 and Erick Hutchinson's "Watching You Watch Me" at #16. All had respectable chart runs here. We'll still be listening.

CHART NOTES

Matchbox Twenty hits #1 with their latest single "She's So Mean". They replace Adele who held the top spot for the past 2 weeks with "Set Fire to the Rain". That song slips from #1 to #2 this week. Fact is 4 of the 5 top 5 songs are or were #1 songs in recent weeks. Besides 1 & 2, at #3 we still have Carly Rae Jepsenholding at #3 for another week with her former #1 song "Call Me Maybe." Holding at #4 for 2 weeks now isGotye with is former #1 song "Somebody That I Used To Know". That record stayed at #1 for several weeks before dropping to #5 a few weeks back, only to creep up again to #4 for the past weeks.

Further down the chart we see Maroon 5's "Payphone" stopping by at #13 this week on its way down. That song was at #1 about six weeks ago.

Several songs are climbing the charts including Fun's "Some Nights" leaping from #13 to #6 this week; The Beach Boys "That's Why God Made the Radio" up from #9 to #7; followed by Alabama Shakes' "Hold On" up from #10 to #8 and Anuhea's "Higher Than The Clouds" up from #17 to #14. Also up is "Good Time" byOwl City featuring Carly Rae Jepsen. That song debut at #20 last week, this week at #15.

Two songs make their chart appearance this week. At #19 is The Killers' latest titled "Runaways" whileCarrie Underwood is "Blown Away" at #20. Both tracks are bound to make major chart moves in the next few weeks.
