Singer Amy Winehouse Dead at 27
British singer Amy Winehouse was found dead in her home today. The troubled singer was known for her 1960s inspired style of jazz, R & B, soul and rock music. She had a smash hit album "Back to Black" which was released in 2006 and crossed over to the U.S. in 2007 to become a Billboard Top 10 album selling more than 2.2 million copies. Several singles from the album became chart successes including her hit "Rehab" which became a top 40 radio staple all over the world.
While some say that Winehouse may be forgotten over time, I think that she will be remembered for her short, but meteoric rise to fame, despite the troubles that she had with her personal life. Her music like that of so many other fallen stars, will live on forever. May you rest in peace Amy.
The album "Back to Black" was a Grammy Award winner for Best Pop Vocal Album for 2007.
"Rehab" went to #1 for 3 weeks in 2007 on Mel's Weekly Top 20.
This song went to #8 on Mel's Weekly Top 20 in 2007.
