"Rich Men North of Richmond" is a rootsy, blue-collar song that came out of nowhere to become a huge viral video hit for its author and singer Oliver Anthony. Apparently this guy just does some home made recordings and this one has resonated a lot... so much that it debut at #1 on my country music chart. The song is available for streaming on various platforms as well as digital purchase on Amazon and iTunes.
"Rich Men North of Richmond" also tops the iTunes Top 100 and the iTunes Country Charts. Oliver Anthony's other songs are also charting on iTunes including "Ain't Gotta Dollar" which chimes in at #10 on my country chart. Check that out below:

Jason Aldean Burn Up The Charts With Latest Single Release
I LOVE this new Jason Aldean song. It's called "Try That in a Small Town" and addresses serious social issues regarding respect, crime, law and order and honoring the American flag (by not burning it).
On my personal Country 5 + 5 chart "Try That in a Small Town" debuts at #2, just behind Fanny Lumsden's #1 hit, "When I Die". The song also debut this weekend at #15 on my Current Top 20 weekly chart of pop and rock hits.

CHART NOTES
Ed Sheeran holds on to #1 for a fourth week with "Bad Habits." It is his biggest hit on this chart since 2018's "Perfect."
Perhaps the oldest person to ever make this chart, singer Tony Bennett who is best known for his hit "I Lost My Heart in San Francisco", pairs with singer Lady Gaga for this update of a classic Cole Porter song... "I Get a Kick Out of You." Bennett recently turned 95. Funny mention of cocaine in its lyrics, but overall the song passes my neo-nostalgia test, good enough to debut at #20.
The video is at the top of this post.
The second debut song this week is by The Weeknd, who is still hanging on with his huge smash hit "Save Your Tears" which has been on this chart since February. The track got a boost in April when the remix version was released featuring singer Ariana Grande. Weeknd's latest single to chart here is "Take My Breath" which comes in at #19.

The new #1 ends The Weekend's reign of "Save Your Tears", which slips to #2. Coming in strong at #3 is Olivia Rodrigo's "Good 4 U" which moves up 5 from #8 to #3 this week.
Ms. Rodrigo has three songs on this week's top 20. In addition to her #3 hit, we have "Deja Vu" holding on to #16, down from last week's #14. She also has a new song making its debut on the chart at #17. That is "Brutal." All tracks come from her new album Sour.

Christmas Song of the Day #18 - Lit This Year - Florida Georgia Line
Country music group Florida Georgia Line offers this animated holiday song that may be questionable to some. It's called "Lit This Year" and I have to think about what is being lit. 🙂 I think this is a new song to their catalog.
