CHART NOTES:
Change at the top. And it's not by Churchill. Bruno Mars finally breaks into the #1 spot this week with his latest hit "When I Was Your Man" off his latest album Unorthodox Jukebox. Mars who is originally from Hawaii has enjoyed a string of #1 hits on this chart that started in late 2010 with his hit "Just the Way You Are". That song was followed by "Grenade", "It Will Rain" and most recently "Locked Out of Heaven". A friend of mine recently compared Mars to the late Michael Jackson. While he may not have all the moves of Jackson, his musical versatility over the past few years has shown that this guy is talented. Growing up in Hawaii he was featured as a mini version of Elvis Presley as a child performer and also did a Michael Jackson routine.
Churchill's "Change" slips a notch after 7 weeks at #1 and is now at #2. Ivan and Alyosha climb from #5 to #3 with "Running For Cover". Caro Emerald makes a 4 point jump and ends up in the top 5 at #5, up from #9 with "Tangled Up". That is one of the best dance songs to come out in recent years. I love Caro Emerald's retro pop music.
Of Monsters and Men hold at #6 for a second week with "Little Talks".
Mariah Carey breaks into the top 10 at #9 with "Almost Home," up from #12 last week. Demi Lovato enters the top 10 at #10 with "Heart Attack", up from last week's #11.
The View moves their jangly rock n roll song "The Clock" up from #17 to #12. They're just behind Bon Joviwho is at #11 with "Because We Can". Both songs do rock music justice.
New entries to the top 20 include Pink with "Just Give Me a Reason" at #18. On this single Ms. Pink is paired with Nate Ruess the lead singer of the group Fun who recently hit #1 with "Carry On" and "Some Nights" in the past 12 months. Taylor Swift also debuts this week at #19 with her latest "22" off the Redalbum.
