CHART NOTES:

Churchill holds at #1 for a second week with "Change" as does Of Monsters and Men with "Little Talks" holding for a sceond week at #2. At #3 we have Maroon 5's former #1 song holding at #3 for a second week in a row with "Daylight".

Mumford & Sons move up 3 points to get into the top 5 this week with "I Wil Wait" from their album Babel. New in the top 10 this week we find Lady Antebellum with their latest track "Downtown" moving up 1 from #11 to #10. The song debut at #19 two weeks ago.

Fastest mover in the top 20 is Bruno Mars' latest single "When I Was Your Man" jumping 8 notches from last week's debut of #20 to #12 this week. Looks like this will be another Top 10 hit for Mars.

The 3 debut songs this week are "Stubborn Love" by The Lumineers at #18 (who also have the #9 most popular song, "Ho Hey"), "Devil's Got a Gun" by Whitehorse from Canada at #19 and the latest by Fitz and The Tantrums titled "Out of My League" coming in at #20.

We'll see how these and all songs fare in the next few weeks on the Weekly Top 20. Thanks for stopping by!

CHART NOTES

Got a change at #1. Churchill's debut single "Change" finally makes it to #1 after a two week pit stop at #2. For me this is my current, most played song so far of 2013. Good song, not getting that much airplay but still good. The group has two videos for this. Check them out.

Of Monsters and Men climbs up one to #2 this week with "Little Talks". The track is more than a year old, but only now has it found its place on the Weekly Top 20.

Another old track making it into the top 10 this week is "I Will Wait" from Mumford and Sons. The group just won the Grammy for album of the year... Babel. This is one of the best tracks off that album. It charted mostly in 2012 but only now has it made its stride for 2013, checking in at #8 this week.

Chalk one up for longevity: The Lumineers' track "Ho Hey" has spent the past 24+ weeks bouncing up and down this chart. Several weeks ago it looked like "Ho Hey" would get the "heave ho" as it sunk to #16 on the chart after peaking at #3 in December. Over the past few weeks however, "Ho Hey" has inched its way back up the top 20 making it once again into the top 10 at #10 this week... and that's up from #11 of last week.

Only one song makes a first week entry into the Weekly Top 20. That song is the latest by Bruno Mars.... "When I Was Your Man" checks in at #20.

CHART NOTES:

Daylight Holds Off Change: This would be the headline describing the top of this week's chart. Churchill's "Change" came charging up the chart this past few weeks, leaping from #17 to #8 to #2 last week. Well the song has stalled for now at #2 as "Change" yields to Maroon 5's "Daylight" which spends its second week at the #1 position. I love both songs, but for now, the music video version of "Daylight" featuring the voices and musicians of Playing For Change is strong enough to keep the hit single on top.

Elsewhere in the top 20: We see Lifehouse's single "Between the Raindrops" moving up 4 notches from last week's #11 to #7 this week. Mumford & Sons jump 6 points going from last week's debut position of #18 to #12 this week with their single "I Will Wait" which is taken from the Grammy nominated album Babel.

Two songs debut on the chart this week. They are "Downtown" by Lady Antebellum at #19 and "Put the Gun Down" by ZZ Ward at #20.

CHART NOTES

Maroon 5 scores with their 3rd number one hit from their 2012 album Overexposed as "Daylight" climbs up 1 spot from #2 to #1 this week, largely on the strength of the "Daylight (Playing For Change version)" video and song remix. I like the world sound and clips presented in the video. It gives this song a new life. Overall, "Daylight" was a good song from the time it was released. The climb up to #1 was slow as this single debut on the Weekly Top 20 on November 11, 2012 while Maroon 5's second #1 single from Overexposed, "One More Night" was still holding at #1 for the 6th week at that time. That was 10 weeks ago!

More historical notes for Maroon 5: "Payphone" was the group's first #1 single from Overxposed as it spent 4 weeks at #1 in the summer of 2012. "One More Night" spent a total of 7 non-consecutives weeks at #1 in the fall of last year. Both songs prominently placed in the Top 100 Hits of 2012 chart with "One More Night" placing at #2 for the year, and "Payphone" placing at #4. For "Daylight" this is the first week at #1. We'll see how long it lasts at the top.

Right under "Daylight" at #2 we have my most favorite current song. That would be "Change" by Churchill which has been issued on the "Change EP" that is available at both iTunes and Amazon. The song is an alternative rock fave that is building momentum especially on this chart where it bolts once again from #8 to #2. The #1 spot surely is a target for "Change", but will Maroon 5's "Daylight" keep it from slipping past? Come back next week.

The other fast moving song up the chart this week belongs to Lifehouse who had a big hit in 2001 with "Hanging By a Moment". They're back now with additional vocals by Natasha Bedingfield on their latest single "Between the Raindrops" which jumps from #18 to #11 this week after debuting two weeks ago at #20.

Speaking of debut songs -- we have 3 this week. At #18 an aging but Grammy Nominated oldie, "I Will Wait" by Mumford & Sons makes it first chart appearance on the Weekly Top 20. The song has been a mainstay in pop, rock and alternative radio for months now, but I only recently got a copy of it and true to my policy of only listing music that I own did this song manage to make it to the chart... this week... months later than all the other charts.... so what?

Bowing in at #19 we find David Bowie's latest "Where Are We Now", a somewhat contemplative and maybe a bit of a boring song when you think this is the guy that made such spectacular hits out of the songs "Fame", "Golden Years", "Let's Dance", "Modern Love" and "Blue Jean" back in the day. On this single, and many other songs that haven't made the charts, Mr. Bowie sounds... well... a bit dated.

Finally at #20 Tegan and Sara get their latest single, "Closer" charted at #20 for its first week on the chart. I think they've been on this chart before but for now I can't remember what the song was!

CHART NOTES:

Fun holds at #1 for third week with "Carry On".

The fastest moving song up the chart this week belongs to Churchill. "Change" is a song that is growing a lot on me, and this week it bolts from #17 to #8. The group also released a new video to go with this potentially huge single.

Other than that there are only incremental changes in positions within the rest of the top 20 and no new songs have made their debuts this week. Maybe next. Come back.
