CHART NOTES:

"Change" by Churchill holds at #1 for another week... it's 7th. Wow! Do check out the video at the top which is a totally different take of the song.

Ivan & Alyosha move up 3 points from last week's #8 and into the top 5 at #5 with the single track "Running For Cover". Honestly, this very radio friendly song should be a big hit by now. Sadly it is not.... so far.

Fitz & the Tantrums leap frog over Demi Lovato with a 4 point jump as "Out Of My League" breaks into the top 10 at #10, up from #14. Lovato's "Heart Attack" slows down a little by moving from #13 to #11. Caro Emerald also breaks into the top 10 with "Tangled Up" as this latest single moves from #11 to #9.

Two song make their chart debut this week. The first is by an artist known as Passenger. He comes in at #19 with "Let Her Go", a bitter little ballad that has been hanging around on my iTunes since it was a free download at Amazon from last November. The 2nd debut song comes out of nowhere, and it's called "One of Us", which is a remake of the old Joan Osborne hit by a new artist on one of those TV talent shows calledThe Voice. The new singer is Sarah Simmons and her unexpected hit checks in at #20.

CHART NOTES

"Let It Be" was the second to last #1 song to chart by The Beatles. It was recorded in either 1968 or 1969 but was not released until 1970. The song held the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for 2 weeks in the spring of 1970. "Let It Be" is currently my most played Beatles track on iTunes. I have both the 45, LP, 3 inch single, and compact disc with the song on the original album, the "Naked" album, the red #1 compilation, Anthology 3 and The Beatles 1967-70.

The Hollies is a British invasion band out of the 1960s who achieved popularity about a year later after The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. They were prolific hit makers for a while scoring major hits with the records "Bus Stop", "Carrie Anne", "Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress)" and "The Air That I Breathe." The song was written by Albert Hammond and is one of my favorite all time songs by The Hollies.

Finally we got Chris Hodge here at #3 with "We're On Our Way". Chris was a one hit wonder artist who barely got this song into the Billboard Top 40 peaking at #44 in 1972. The song is about UFOs, which at the time I thought was very cool. It's available on the Apple Records compilation CD Come And Get It - The Best Of Apple Records.

Price Increase at Amazon.com

Amazon MP3 Price Increase

I've noticed that there are hardly any 99¢ single tracks on Amazon.com these days.... started earlier this month where most if not all of the 99¢ tracks increased in price to $1.29 each. Junk.

99¢ was the sweet spot for me as far as purchasable single downloads go.

I'm sure this price increase is not Amazon's fault. The greedy music industry is to blame for all of this.

I love music... I hate the music industry pricing and practices.

A suggested alternate: YouTube to MP3 or go back to vinyl.

CHART NOTES

"Change" by Churchill is my favorite song so far of 2013. It holds at #1 for a 6th week in a row. Good song. Enough said.

Demi Lovato's "Heart Attack" is the fastest moving song up the chart this week, bouncing from last week's debut of #19 to #13 this week. That's a 6 point jump.

"Harlem Shake" by Bauer fell off the chart after being on for only 1 week at #20 .

Three songs debut on the chart this week. They include the latest by Bon Jovi called "Because We Can" at #18, "The Clock" by The View at #19 and country song "Sure Be Cool If You Did" by Blake Shelton at #20.

It's fun to see where the songs I choose gets placed and more so what else is also voted into the survey for the week by other readers.

Plus Chris also has a list of top 30 albums and related videos to each week's survey. Like the Weekly Top 20 that I post here, this list will also include selected, embedded videos.

CHART NOTES

Churchill holds on to the top spot on the chart for a 5th consecutive week with their hit single, "Change". Another track from their Change EP "Ark in a Flood" moves up 4 from #19 to #15 this week. Good for Churchill.

Breaking into the top 10 this week we find Ivan and Alyosha at #9 with "Running For Cover" up from #11 followed closely by The Lumineers with "Stubbon Love" at #10, up from last week's #12.

Two new entries on the top 2 this week: Demi Lovato's latest single "Heart Attack" debuts at #19. DJ Baauer's "Harlem Shake" which has become a YouTube sensation in many incarnations, debuts at #20. "Harlem Shake" is the #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. I don't think this record will go very high on this chart. Just listed it because, 1. I have it and 2. some of the videos are funny. One thing for sure... "Harlem Shake" is not as good as last year's "Gangnam Style" by Psy, which is still popular today.

CHART NOTES:

Churchill holds on to the #1 spot for a 4th consecutive week with their hit "Change". The song is a hit on my chart if nowhere else. It is from the band's Change EP which also features the track "Ark In A Flood" which not so coincidentally makes its debut on the Weekly Top 20 this week at #19. So for Churchill, it's now 2 songs on the top 20.

The Lumineers are the other band with 2 songs on this week's top 20. Their current hit, "Ho Hey" which way back in November of last year, peaked at #3. The single is a worldwid smash for The Lumineers. This week the song drops from its 2013 peak of #9 (held for 2 weeks) to #13. The song has been on this chart for more than 25 weeks since its debut back in the September. This song comes off their debut album simply titled The Lumineers. And now the band's second single moves up a few points in its third week on th chart. "Stubbon Love" is this week's #12 song, moving up one from #13. Could it be another top 10 hit for The Lumineers? Time will tell.

Jumping up higher: Two song this week make big jumps on the top 20. The first one is "Running For Cover", the debut single from Ivan & Alyosha. The track now in its second week on the chart, moves a brisk 8 points up from #19 to #11 this week. Looks like a big hit in the making. The other leaper is "Devil's Got a Gun" by Whitehorse out of Canada. The country rocker moves from #16 to #9 this week.

Also in the top 10 we find ZZ Ward moving into the top 20 up from #12 and her hit "Put the Gun Down". So we got 2 gun songs in a row... this one and "Devil's Got a Gun" at #9.

Besides Churchill's debut at #19, we also have 2 other new tracks to the chart. At #18 we find Caro Emerald with a brand new single called "Tangled Up". Two points below her is Mariah Carey who enters at #20 with "Amost Home" from the film soundtrack album Oz the Great and Powerful.
