CHART NOTES

Dengue Fever holds on to the #1 position for the 5th week in a row with "Cement Slippers". It is definitely the biggest hit on my chart so far this year, yet it has hardly made a dent on anyone else's chart. No matter. The single was released as a freebie by the band in mid-February and has been on this chart since late February. The song spent most of March climbing up the chart and all of April now holding on to #1. Dengue Fever's latest album Cannibal Courtship was released on Concord/Fantasy Records this past week. In time the public and fellow chart enthusiasts will catch up with this most wonderful band.

The biggest mover this week is "Hello" by French producer and singer Martin Solveig featuring Dragnonette. The track moves from its debut spot last week of #19 to #7 this week. "Hello" is one of those European dance tracks that have been kicking around for about a half year, maybe longer. It has started to get traction on some personal and dance charts. Good song, reminds me of "Paper Planes" by M.I.A. a few years back.

Upward movement: Other songs gaining in the top 20 include "Who Says" by Selena Gomez & the Scene. The track moves from #14 to #10 this week. Several other tracks on the top 20 have moved up 2 points from their previous positions of last week. They include "Who's That Chick" by Rihanna, "I Do" by Colbie Caillat, and Bruno Mars with the "Lazy Song" actually moving up 3 points.

Two songs make their debut this week. They are "Judas" by Lady GaGa at #19 and "This is Why We Fight" by The Decemberists.

CHART NOTES

"Cement Slippers" by Dengue Fever is the #1 song again for the second week in a row. Foster the People breaks into the Top 5 with "Pumped Up Kicks", up 2 from #7 to #5.

Breaking into the top 10 are Fitz & the Tantrums with "L.O.V." up 3 from #12 to #9 and R.E.M. and their track "UBerlin" moving from #13 to #10. Just behind them is Noah and the Whale who make the biggest gain moving from #17 to #11 with their hit "L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N." Gotta like those songs with spellings in them!

The only debut song is by Selena Gomez and the Scene. Her latest single, "Who Says" checks in for the first week on the chart at #19. Their last single, "A Year Without Rain" went all the way to #1 late last year.
